5 Ways to Upcycle Mason Jars

Upcycle your mason jar into something more useful. Here are some easy DIY mason jar projects you can make this weekend!

1.  Mason Jar Seed Starter Pots

Materials:

wooden board – I used one that was in my closet. I have no idea where it came from, but it measures 11″ X 23.5″

chalkboard paint

white glue

water

food coloring

3 mason jars

2 6×3/4 screws

picture wire

3 hose clamps

3 2″x1/2″ mending plates (mine came with screws)

potting soil

seeds of your choice. I used some herbs and flowers that we had on hand.

2.  Simple Mason Jar Upcycle for the Bathroom

Materials:

Wide mouth mason jars – use the height best suited for what you will put inside

stickers or if you have a die cutting machine, you could use vinyl cutouts

spray sealant (optional )

3.  Mason Jar Lights

Materials:

A mason jar

The socket you want to put the jar on (it’s okay if it’s on your wall or ceiling)

A plastic or metal ring that fits your socket (to secure your jar lid to the socket)

A nail or wood screw

A pen, pencil, or marker

A hammer

Scissors

Pliers

A flat-tipped screwdriver

4.  Mason Jar Sewing Kit

Materials:

Clean mason jar (I used a small one but you can use any size)

Any fabric

Glue Gun

Stuffing

Good thing I’ve stored a bit on these mason jars, I only buy balls brand since I use them all the time for my salsas, jams and sauces and it’s the high quality food preserving of these jars that I really like. I’m still planning on buying up so more of these mason jars as gifts for friends and family.
