52 Weeks of Pinterest: Week 14 – Kid’s Canvas Art!

This year I wanted to go with a resolution I would have no problem sticking to! Then as I was pinning an item on Pinterest, a light bulb flashed on above my head. Ok, maybe not literally, but this great idea popped into my head. Those of us who are Pinterest users know that we pin hundreds of things a week, but do we ever do them? So I decided this year I would do one of my pins every week. At the moment, 52 weeks of Pinterest was born. Each week I will do something I found on Pinterest rather it be a craft, new recipe, organizing technique, or whatever!

This week I went for a pin for our DIY Crafts Board – Kid’s Canvas Art!

I wanted to do a craft this week with the girls and I found a fun finger painted canvas that I thought they would enjoy. However, we were doing this on canvas with acrylic paint so I had them use brushes instead.

What you will need:

Canvas
Paint
Painter’s Tape

I went with the word “LOVE” as the original pin did, but you could be creative here and do whatever your heart desires. Just use the painter’s tape and spell out your word.

Once I had the word spelled out, I applied some white paint over the letters and let them dry. I did this hoping to get a good seal so the colored paint would not seep under the tape. After the white paint dries – it is time for some fun!

Use whatever colors you would like, we went with “love” shades. 🙂 I let them paint their little hearts out until all the white had disappeared.

Once the paint had tried, I removed the masking tape.

You can see that a little paint got under the tape in a few spots. I just took some white paint and painted over the little blemishes and ta-da!

The girls had a blast with this and were so excited to see how it looked after the tape was gone. We will do this one again for sure.
