About Discount Queens – The Blogger Team

Amber

amber-dqHi, my name is Amber, and I am an addict of everything! Kind of kidding there but I will say that I have a very addictive personality. I am very passionate about everything in my life.

I am a mother of two beautiful little girls who are 3 and 4. When I am not busy finding great deals to post for you, I am busy chasing these two around and trying to keep my house standing! Though they are a handful, they are such a blessing.

I like to consider myself a Jill of many trades, though an expert in none! The best piece of advice I ever heard was “you can do anything for 10 minutes.” I try many DIY projects, 6 times out of 10 they are a failure. The beauty in it is that I each time I try something, I find ways to do it differently next time. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, gardening, traveling, and a good ol’ fashion family movie or game night. I really enjoy the outdoors and we are a family of fishers. I consider myself a recreational fisher because I only catch and release, fish just doesn’t do it for me. Yuck!

My husband and I bought our first house about 4 months ago and are currently doing some remodeling! It is so much fun to watch the progress and know that you were part of that. It also makes you second guess each picture you hang on a wall when you realize how much work it took to make a wall!

I started couponing 4 years ago. It started during a dark time in our lives when my husband lost his job, we had a 1 year old and found out our 2nd child was on the way. We are long past those days now but I continue to coupon for many reasons. Couponing is one of the ways I get to be a stay at home mom. It has allowed us to give back and we donate regularly. Anyone has time to coupon, you can be as extreme as you want to be with it but always remember, spending or saving, every penny adds up.

I love searching the web to find you the best deals out there, at all of the hottest online retail stores, including freebies, and many more great finds. I have a weekly Pinterest project here at Discount Queens that you can catch every Saturday. I am your Discount Queens Facebook friend Monday – Friday!

Christina

christina-dqHi, my name is Christina and I am a military spouse and farmer. I have three four-legged children; two Boston Terriers and a Border Collie. While I don’t have human children yet, I do have 4 fantastic nephews that range from 5-17 years of age. They are all spunky little characters that are always willing to jump in and craft with “Aunt Tina”.

I joined the Discount Queens family about a year ago to share DIY projects but have moved into sharing product reviews and sales with you too. The hardest part about that, is not buying something from every sale we find.

I love spending time with my family and traveling. As a military family, we do a lot of that. I think our dogs alone have been to at least 15 states! I love photography and have been an amateur photographer since I took my first class in high school, way back when trapper keepers were cool.

I love being a part of the Discount Queens family. I do my best to share projects, recipes, and cleaning tips that will make your life a little easier and hopefully, a little less expensive!

Feel free to chat with me! I jump on Facebook after Amber and spend my weekends with you.

If you’re interested in advertisement or partnership opportunities, send me an email. You can reach me at [email protected]

Kelley

kelleyI am a wife and mother to 3 amazing children (plus one on the way!) and live in the great state of Washington. I grew up just outside of New Orleans and loooove me some Southern food!  Don’t ask me how to cook it though, I’m better at eating it 🙂

I’m a stay at home mom and enjoy traveling, shopping, reading, scrap-booking, and hanging out with friends and family. Recently I took up gardening (a big fat one – 40 ft x 30 ft) which ultimately led to the canning of my goods!  I love being able to help provide for my family for next to nothing!  I’ll also try just about anything on Pinterest, and have really gotten into the DIY craze, especially when it comes to home decorating.  I refuse to have a plain white wall in my home  – no way! – and love to decorate, but hardly consider myself super talented at it.  You know Pinterest, you win some, you lose some 🙂

As most know it’s not easy living on one income these days.  I discovered coupons about 5 years ago and was SHOCKED at how much I was able to save my family!  I literally cut my grocery bill in half (AND was able to bring home even more food!).  Not only have I learned to save on food, but on everyday needs too – clothes, shoes, home decor (yes, that’s an everyday need 🙂 ) – you name it!  There is always a deal out there, you just have to know where to look!  And Discount Queens is devoted to helping you do that!

Melody

melody I am a proud mother of two wonderful kids (three if you count my husband), but on an average week there are up to five children in the house. When I grew up, our house was always the local “hang out” and it prides me to no end to be the home where all of the children gather. However, with most of them being teenage boys, saving money is essential! (Have you seen a teenage boy eat? The cereal alone was like a second mortgage!)

I was introduced to coupons by a Facebook friend in 2010. After saving only forty percent on my first trip, I was hooked! These days, a normal shopping trip is now an average of eighty-three percent savings. Two of my favorite items to use coupons on are milk and makeup. I buy my milk on sale with coupons when I can. I freeze it 5 to 10 gallons at a time! Make up coupons are fantastic because they frequently make the products free. Occasionally they even result in making money!

I currently do the Discount Queens match ups for Walgreens, Rite Aid, and Family Dollar and invite you to view my weekly hauls with “Mel Says, Save Me The Money!”

My best tips for beginners are:

  • Make a list of what you use most so that you can be aware and stock up on them at a lower price.
  • Give yourself a budget.
  • Print coupon policies and keep them with you! Understand them! Ask us questions!
  • Let the great team at Discount Queens show you the ropes!
  • Build your stock pile slowly.
  • Don’t take more than you can use. Even if an item is free, if it expires before you can use it, it is wasted.

It does take some time and effort to coupon. Wait for that “ah-ha moment.“ There will come a time that you realize that you are out of an essential item at 10:47PM on a school night. Then you will remember that you are NOT out! You have five more that you stocked up on at a fraction of the price! You will be hooked as well!

Jessica

jessica-dqMy name is Jessica.  I am a stay at home mother of 3…I have a daughter who is 2 1/2, a son who is 5, and a step-daughter who is 11…oh and we also have an active new puppy!!  I enjoy reading (when I have a few spare moments), sewing, crafting, running and competing in triathlon, in addition to a couple other things I do to bring in a little bit of extra income.  Life can get crazy at times, but that is why I seek to find good recipes, that my family will enjoy, that aren’t too expensive or too labor intensive.  I am addicted to Pinterest, and I am constantly looking for new recipes, crafts, holiday décor, or tips to make everyday life that much easier.  I hope you enjoy reading my posts and trying out some of the recipes.  Many of them are from my childhood, and what I loved growing up, but I am also trying to find new ones to add to our list of family favorites.  I hope you will ENJOY!!

Starr

starr-dqI am a stay at home Mom of two kids; Cole is 5 and Bella is 4. They keep me pretty busy. I am a closet Pinterest pinner and have just started to actually do some of the pins I have pinned {which some of them I will be sharing with all of you}. I love reading, scrap booking and pretty much anything crafty. I love the outdoors! Living in Idaho is the perfect place for all things outdoors. We recently bought a house so I am busy with the to do list I have made, luckily I have plenty of time to get the things done I want.
