The Skinny on The GM Albertsons Free Milk Catalina

Do you ever take a minute to think how AWESOME free milk is? Usually the very best we can do is $1.50/1 gallon and even that is pretty sweet! So when we had the opportunity to get it FREE at albertsons with last weeks promo, it was like Christmas! Today, I was standing behind a woman who was ready to scratch the cashier’s eyes out because she did not get her overage from her milk catalina. It made me sad.
Over the last few days I have seen so many different comments about how those catalinas are being honored. Some cashiers are simply scanning it, and giving the overage. some are suggesting buying two gallons at $2.19, so you can get both free. Others are adjusting the coupon to match the total of the milk.
I really wanted an official answer as to which way is correct, so I emailed corporate. And the answer is…yes. (Haha) Here is what they had to say:
“Our Intermountain West Division of Albertsons (including WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, UT, ND, and Elko, NV) do allow overage on manufacturers coupons. This includes those Catalina coupons that are identified as manufacturer coupons. However, any coupon that includes the verbiage “up to” in the amount of discount will not allow an overage, since it’s intended to make the product free, but does not provide maximum value.
Because of the recent changes made to our coupon policy, and some confusion around proper redemption of these coupons, it’s been decided to allow overage this one time on the Free Milk Catalina coupons. For future coupons that have “up to” in the redemption value, however, no overage will be granted.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, and thanks for shopping at Albertsons!”
They have been given the go ahead to give overage this once. Technically, they are not supposed to. I am not sure whether General Mills or Albertsons is footing the overage. This is my opinion. It’s pretty terrific that we occasionally get these free milk promos, and I think we would be sad if they went away. So if the least you get is free milk, just remember how much nicer it is than paying for it. If they give you overage, that is super! Let’s all give Albertsons and General Mills a BIG Thank You!

I’ve been seeing clearance diaper packs everywhere including Target (case lot section) and Walgreens (end caps). Looks like you may be able find some at CVS if you’re lucky! I think they are updating packaging on both Pampers and Huggies boxes.
It might be a good idea to print this $2.00/1 Huggies Goodnights coupon just in case!
