Carmelized Onions and Sauteed Bell Peppers


We had sausages the other night for dinner, and a great and easy accompaniment to them are Caramelized onions and sautéed bell peppers.  A simple way to dress up a tasty sausage.  Be sure to try these out the next time you make sausages, burgers, etc.  YUM!

For onions-

2 Tbsp. butter

2 large onions

2 Tbsp. brown sugar (you can omit the brown sugar if you use a sweet onion)

1/4 tsp. salt

For Bell Peppers-

Olive oil

Bell peppers


For onions-

Melt butter in skillet over medium heat.

Stir in sliced onions to coat with butter.  Sprinkle with brown sugar.  Cook uncovered for about 10 minutes, stirring every 3-4 minutes.

Reduce heat to medium low, and sprinkle with salt.

Cook for 35-40 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until onions are light golden brown.  They will shrink in size during cooking.

For Bell Peppers-

Slice peppers thin. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.  Add peppers and cook until soft and lightly charred.
