Cherry Dessert

I was craving cherry pie the other day…warm with vanilla ice cream, YUM!  When I am too lazy to make an actual pie, this dessert fits the bill.  Complete with a yummy crust like topping, and the sweet and tart taste of cherries, this is an easy dessert to make, any night of the week.

Serves 6 for about $0.94/serving

INGREDIENTS:

1 quart cherry pie filling – ($3.64)

1 white cake mix – ($0.98)

2 cubes of butter, melted – ($1.00)

slivered almonds (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Spread cherries in the bottom of a 9×13 casserole dish.

Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the top.  Sprinkle with almonds if using them.

Pour melted butter over the top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes, or until lightly browned.
