Whole Chicken – Crock Pot

One of our quick and easy dinners, when I am not feeling like making dinner, and we are not feeling like eating  fast food, is to grab a rotisserie chicken, make a salad, and add some bread and fruit.   I have never made a whole chicken before, kind of scary I guess!  But I found this recipe to just put one in the crock pot and let it cook away!  The nice thing is you can use the meat for all sorts of things.  Have it as is, put it in a salad, sandwich, soup, pasta, etc.  This time we ate ours with pasta and alfredo sauce. With a little pre planning, as you can’t just grab it from the store, you can have a nicely cooked and seasoned chicken, ready to go by dinner!

Serves 6-8 for about $0.75/serving

INGREDIENTS:

1 whole chicken – (about $6)

salt and pepper

garlic powder

onion powder

oregano

minced onion

DIRECTIONS:

Wash chicken and remove neck and gizzards.  Place in crock pot breast side down.

Mix together seasonings in amounts you like, and rub all over bird.

Cook on low for 8 hours.  Serve with whatever you like to eat chicken with!
