Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Bananas

chocolate bananasRecently I have been trying different snack ideas with the kids to kind of spice things up a bit.
I was wanting to try this Chocolate Covered Banana recipe to see if it would go well as a snack for my Daughters Preschool class.
I must say that it went pretty well and tasted FABULOUS!

Here is what you need:
Bananas
Peanut Butter
Chocolate to melt
Sprinkles {optional}
A knife
Wax paper
Cookie sheet

First step is to peel the banana and cut it into pieces
I gave both my kids a butter knife and they were able to cut them all on their own.

Next take some peanut butter and put it on top of one piece of banana.
Take another banana piece and sandwich it on top of the peanut butter.
Once you have all of them assembled put them in the freezer for 1 hour.

After 1 hour they are ready for CHOCOLATE! 😀 YUM!

Melt your chocolate to a good dipping or spooning consistency.
I used the candy melts in the picture and it wasn’t melting how I wanted so I switched to mini chocolate chips

Remove your banana sandwiches from the freezer and top with the chocolate.
Word to the wise, since they are frozen it wont take long for the chocolate to set.
If you want to add sprinkles, right after applying the chocolate is the best time.
I stuck mine back in the freezer to harden the chocolate all the way, about 15 min.

Once the chocolate is hard they are ready to eat.  I ate them right out of the freezer, my kids on the other hand let theirs get a little soft.
*disclaimer, if you would rather eat them soft don’t wait to long for them to turn soft.  The bananas then get mushy and watery.

I loved this snack cause it was yummy, my kids loved it and they did pretty much everything {except dealing with the hot chocolate dip}!
