Christmas On A Budget Series: Cheap Nativity Costumes!

One of our family traditions is to play out the Christmas Story with all the little kids each Christmas Eve. This used to mean me and my 5 siblings dressing up in elaborate costumes made by my mother and singing songs and acting out the versus in Luke. As we got a little older, there was lots of moaning and groaning, mostly from my two older brothers, but we did it and it’s a tradition I’ll always remember! Now, the 16 grandkids have the job of getting dressed up and they love it! My sisters and I aren’t quit as talented as my mother when it comes to sewing costumes, so we’ve made costumes the easy and cheap way. Buy a yard or so of costume material (as low as $2-$3) and cut a hole in the middle (for the head). You can also cut a strip off the yard to tie around the kids head. Yes, the wise men look little “Night at The Roxbury,” but they thought they looked cool :). Fun AND Cheap!
