Christmas On A Budget Series: Use a Toy Rental Service

I haven’t tried it, but the new toy rental service Toygaroo, is receiving high marks from it’s customers. Basically, you choose toys and they send them to you for a rental fee. Once your child is done playing with the toy you send it back, or if your child loves the toy and can’t part, you pay a discounted price to keep it. Like Netflix – only with toys.

Rental packages start at $24.99 for 4 new toys every other month and include name brand stuff like Thomas the Train and Spider Man action figures. The average retail value for the $24.99 package is about $130.  In case you were curious, each toy is sanitized in a 3 step process involving 212 F steam clean and shrink wrap.

I’m not sure how my kids would feel about sending back the toys – but this program might be worth a try if you’re looking for a way to increase the volume under the Christmas tree. Really, how many toys do your kids really play with for longer than a couple months? If they are like mine, they likely have a handful of prized possessions and the rest are disposable (when they aren’t looking) fillers.

*Even better, Toygaroo is offering a 14 day FREE trail offer. You pay the initial rental fee and if you’re not satisfied, send the toys back within 14 days and they’ll refund your money. Perfect timing for Christmas!
