DIY $10 Command Station

It seems that with every New Year the resolutions and tips are always the same; eat healthy and get organized.
Well I am not here to talk about eating healthy, cause who wants to do that and miss out on all the good yummy stuff 😉

I was needing something to get all the clutter off my kitchen counter.
It seemed to be the drop off zone for everything; school papers, food coupons, etc.
I saw a similar pin on Pinterest of a command station the gal did up in her home {mine is far less sophisticated} and thought what a great idea!
We recently moved into our house and I have a ton of stuff in boxes in the garage that I have kept around for this very reason….
TO REUSE! 😀
So instead of going out and buying all new stuff I went to my garage to shop.

Here is what you will need:
1 Cork board
1 collage style frame
1 dry erase marker
1 {3} compartment desk organizer {$10 at Walmart}
Scrapbook paper of your choice
Paint *optional

Now lets get to putting it all together!
First step I did was find a spot where I wanted to make my command station
Mine is in the laundry room behind the door.  The main door we come in and out of.
I made sure everything was going to fit in my space and planned a layout.

Next I painted my cork board.  I hated the basic wood color it was so I added a couple coats of paint and wa-la
While my border dried I picked out my collage frame.  I didn’t have one big enough that had 7 spaces so I went I with the one that had 5
I added my scrapbook paper to the frame {after cleaning the glass.  After all it was in a box collecting dust}
Put the frame back together and wrote my days of the week on the glass with my dry erase marker

My cork board was dry at this point so I hung it first.
I then hung the other two items.  I played around with where to put them depending on what looked good.

TA-DA 😀

I will add a basket  at the bottom for each of my kids when the need for it arises. {Kindergarten and Preschool are not to high demanding yet 😉 }

So there you have it!  Your very own {highly classy} command station for your home!
