DIY $4 Microfiber Cleaner!! SO EASY!

This is yet another post that came out of necessity. I started looking on Pinterest for a way to clean a microfiber couch and there were SO many Pins on the subject, that I can’t give credit to any one person. So, while this idea is not mine, I can’t tell you who originally came up with it. But, to that person, whom ever you may be, THANK YOU!!! This is a miracle cleaner!!!

We recently bought a used RV and used it right away to travel to my better half’s Guard Duty in another state. While we were here, I started to get a bit grossed out thinking about the history the couch may have had (I found doggie pee spots on the carpet). So, I decided to clean it. When my hubby came home, he causally mentioned that he didn’t even notice the couch had a print; THAT is how dirty this thing was! EWW! Needless to say, this DIY really works!!

Here’s what you need:

  • Alcohol
  • Spray Bottle
  • White Sponge
  • Hard Bristle Brush

Yes,  you can find all of these things at the Dollar Tree! That’s why it’s a $4 DIY! 🙂

Now, open your alcohol bottle and pour it straight into your spray bottle.

Don’t dilute it!! You’re going to use it full strength.

Next, spray the alcohol directly onto the microfiber material.

Be sure you’re in a well ventilated area. The alcohol smell is REALLY strong! I made sure to open all the windows in the little RV living room.

Now, take your white sponge and scrub the fabric.

IMG_8805Don’t be afraid to really scrub!! You want to get this it clean, remember?

Here’s what my sponge looked at different areas of the couch:

Ok. Now, let the couch dry for at least 20-30 minutes. Don’t worry, it will happen fast. The alcohol evaporates pretty quickly.

Once your microfiber is dry, use a hard bristle brush to fluff the fibers back up. I just brushed back and forth and then front to back.

IMG_8810You will see plenty of dirt come off your microfiber at this point too!

That’s it!

You will be amazed at how clean your microfiber will be! It really will look like new!

Want proof?

Here’s what I started with again:
