DIY Flavored & Colored Sugar! Perfect for New Year!

This is it! We’re officially in our last weekend of 2012! Congratulations everyone! You’ve survived! So, lets celebrate the end of this year and the beginning of the new year with something fun….flavored and colored sugar to rim your party glasses with!!!

This is the easiest thing I’ve ever done and the results are perfect for a celebration!! But this DIY isn’t reserved for holidays. It’s perfect for birthdays and “just because” days too! Just add it as a topper to any of your baked treats!

Anyway, are you ready to get this show on the road?

Good!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 1 Cup White Sugar
  • Food Coloring
  • Water
  • Flavored Extract
  • Spoon
  • Bowl

*Note: You do NOT need to add any flavored extract if you don’t want to. Plain colored sugar is perfect to rim champagne glasses!

Ok, you’re first step is to add 1 cup of white sugar to a bowl.

IMG_7209 copy_optNow, add 3 or 4 teaspoons of water to your sugar..

Add 2 or 3 drops of food coloring to the mix.

IMG_7215_optIf you’re adding flavor, simply add 1/2 a teaspoon of flavored extract now.

Once you have your water, coloring, and flavor (if you’re using it) on your sugar, carefully mix it with a spoon. Be sure to mix it well so you don’t have any clumps of color left. It should look like this once you’re done.

When your ready to rim your glass, dampen a CLEAN towel with some water and rub it around the rim of your glass. Then, roll your glass over the sugar. This will make the sugar stick. Then, fill your glass with the drink of your choice!

Isn’t that easy?!!! Oh how I love giving a party a little extra “pizzazz” with almost NO effort!
