DIY Nail Polish Color and a Few Other Fun Tricks!

Have you ever found yourself owning an eye shadow that just didn’t work for you? Maybe it looked great in the package but when you put it on, there was just nothing you could do to make it look right on you? Well, you don’t have to keep those “duds” stocked away somewhere to give to some unassuming friend. You can actually do something pretty fun with them; Make Nail Polish!

IMG_9562Here’s what you need:

  • Eye Shadow (loose or solid)
  • Clear Nail Polish
  • Snip of Paper

Grab your eyeshadow and let’s get this party started!

If you have loose eyeshadow, then you’re ready to roll. If your shadow is solid, go ahead and break it to pieces.

Now, take your little snippet of paper and gently roll it into a loose funnel.

Slip it through your nail polish opening.

IMG_9553This may be obvious but I’m going to say it anyway; the more shadow you use, the darker your color will become. So, now that we’ve covered that, go ahead and add as much or as little shadow as you like.

I poured in a nice little glob.

IMG_9560All you have to do now is give it a good shake and you’ll find you’ve just made yourself a brand new nail polish. Pretty cool huh?

If nail polish isn’t your thing, you can take the exact same concept and use it to make your own mascara (buy a bottle of the clear stuff and add your color) or use it to make temporary hair color streaks! This works really well if your hair is light. Just add your eyeshadow to a dollop of clear hair gel, mix it in your hand, grab a small batch of hair, and pull the color down the length of your strands. Don’t want to turn it into a cosmetic? Pour your shadow into a bottle of clear glue and use it for crafts.

I love it!

I guess you’ll never have to worry about buying eye shadow that you wind up not liking now. Why? Because you can ALWAYS do something else with it!
