DIY Pumpkin Candy Bags! Great Way to Ration Candy!

It’s official, folks! Halloween is FOUR days away!! I can’t wait! I think I’m just as excited as my mini family members! This, like Christmas, is the time of year that us “old people” get more joy out of giving than getting…well, most of us anyway. 😉 The only problem is, sometimes we run out of goodies before our homes are done being bombarded by little ghosts and goblins! I hate having to turn off my light before the trick-or-treaters are done having their fun. In an effort to prevent that, I’m going to ration my candy (in a fun way of course)! I’m going to show you how to do it too!

We are going to make Pumpkin Candy Bags! This is SO easy! It’s super inexpensive and all you need are FOUR items! Let’s get to it!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • Orange Tissue Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Floral Tape (available at the Dollar Tree)

Fun Extras:

The first thing you’re going to do is open up your tissue paper package and unfold the paper. One you have it laid out, cut it straight through the center.

Cut it again lengthwise.

Now, take two cut pieces from any of your four stacks and lay one sheet on top of the other. Add a few pieces of candy to the center.

Now, grab the tissue paper and bring it up over the candy so that you’re making a pouch. Twist the excess tissue paper together.

Now, cut a strand of your floral tape and wind it around the twisted “tail” of the tissue paper. Once you’ve wound your tape around the twisted tissue paper, you can add a small drop of glue to the loose end and glue it down.

You can stop here if you like! If you have bored kids, hand them some googly eyes and a sharpie marker! No googly eyes? That’s ok! You can just draw on a pair of eyeballs!

That’s all there is too it! It takes less than 5 minutes to put one of these cute little candy bags together! Now you can hand out these little pumpkin candy bags when someone comes knocking on your door! No more feeling stingy if you only hand out two or three pieces or having the “quit taking it all, kid” thought in the back of your head when you have an overzealous candy grabber! This is the PERFECT way to ration your candy! These little guys are also cute enough to give away as party favors if you’re having people over to your house too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! Please remember to like, share, tweet, and Pin this post!

Happy Halloween from the Discountqueens.com family!

  1. Goodness, I must be the stingy one. I always stretch out my candy by only giving 1 piece per kid. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but we get TONS of trick-or-treaters and I just can’t afford to give as much as is pictured above. But I do think it’s a great idea for party favors or classroom use, when you’d want to give a little more to a smaller group of people. Idea now pinned!

I completely agree, Chris! It’s so hard to keep enough for everyone! Luckily, I live out in the country now so I don’t see as many visitors as most people do, so I can stretch it out a bit! Thanks for pinning us anyway! Have a Happy Halloween! 🙂

    • There’s no need to use so many pieces of candy if you don’t want to. This would be just a cute as a mini size with 2 pieces of candy.Just cut the tissue paper even smaller. This idea is adorable. Thanks!
