DIY Ranch Dressing

IMG_7710

My Mom always made her own Ranch Dressing when we were growing up, and she still does today!  I used to make it all the time myself, and then haven’t started doing it again until recently.  I would purchase the buttermilk, and then never used it all, so it would always end up in the trash.  Then I learned that you can FREEZE buttermilk!  Woohoo!  Now, I make the amount of Ranch Dressing that I need, and then freeze the remainder of the buttermilk in ice cube trays to use at a later date.  This way I am not wasting anything, and we are getting homemade ranch without all the preservatives in the store bought bottles.  It still costs about the same, but is much better.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups mayonnaise (I would think you could use plain Greek Yogurt, but I have not tried that yet)

1 1/2 cups buttermilk

1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

2 Tbsp. black pepper

1/2 tsp. salt

DIRECTIONS:

Measure out mayonnaise, and place in a medium sized bowl.  Gradually stir in buttermilk, with a wire whisk, mixing well, until smooth.

Once blended, stir in seasonings, salt and pepper.

Pour into container of your choice, I like to re-use a ranch bottle that I already have.  Enjoy on your next green salad or baked potato!
