Garden With Me: Harvesting!

Kelley, Kelley, how does your garden grow?

Well,…just like this 🙂

This past week, we have been really enjoying our snow peas and carrots!  So yummy!  I was so excited to see the peas finally growing.  These were the first to go in the ground and it’s about time they’re ready, no??

One thing I have had to work on this week is erecting a “trellis” for the peas.  I’m pretty sure I should have done this from the beginning….but what do I really know.

The pea plants have grown quite large and don’t do well just flopped on the ground, plus it’s harder to pick without being hard on the plant.  Tomato cages work best…. (mental note to self to put these in from the get go next year 🙂 )

or good ole stakes and rope get the job done too 🙂  The plants are super light so it doesn’t take much to hold them upright, unlike tomato plants.

I simply can not wait for the potatoes to be ready! I think I might have planted enough for the whole neighborhood…or town 🙂

Hope you’re having fun with your gardens!  I sure am!

And as an added bonus, my kids have (and I) have eaten more fresh salads than ever before.  Food just tastes better when you can pick yourself 🙂  Can’t get enough of hearing my 5-year (who is generally “allergic” to anything healthy) say “Mom, can I go pick a carrot out of the garden?”  Yes, please!

Thank you for all the wonderful tips on gardening. I just bought the Action Hoe and cant wait to use it tonight .. I was also hoping that you would post the process of canning tomatoes on your site when that time comes. I am soo looking forward to my tomatoes now that we’ve gotten some nice rain.

Thanks again for all you do 🙂

  2. Yep. I’ll for sure share the recipe! I’m hoping to get on that as soon as I have enough tomatoes and peppers!
