JC’s Baked Beans

My husband does not cook.  He does however enjoy baked beans, and soon after we were married, we were asked to bring them to a BBQ.  He offered to make them…and this is the recipe he came up with.  Not only are they super easy…they taste pretty darn good, and now  friends and family request we bring them all the time.

With BBQ season in full force, and the 4th of July just around the corner, these beans are sure to be a hit at any get together.

Serves 10-12 for about $0.42/ serving

INGREDIENTS:

2 – 28oz cans Van Camps Baked Beans, any flavor – ($3.36)

1 onion, diced – ($0.33)

4 slices bacon, chopped – ($0.92)

1 1/2 Tbsp. yellow mustard

4 Tbsp. ketchup

3 Tbsp. brown sugar

3 Tbsp. sweet honey mustard

Sauté onions in skillet. (Although he is not a cook, he is quite the Sous Chef, and he dices the onions for me!)

When almost browned, add bacon, and cook through.

In crock pot, add beans, and other sauces and seasonings.

When onions and bacon are cooked, add to beans and stir well.  Cook on low for 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes of so.
