Mary’s Spaghetti Sauce

My Mom makes the BEST spaghetti sauce!!  Yes, I may be a bit partial to it, because I grew up with it, but this sauce is FABULOUS!!!  It is super easy, all you have to do is brown your beef and throw all the ingredients together in a pot on the stove to simmer for a few hours, or in the crock pot.  (I like the crock pot, as it is just so easy!)  It is not too thick or too thin, and it can easily be adjusted.  I have had to adapt it over the years to make it more to my husbands liking, as he likes a thick sauce that sticks to the noodles.  It also makes quite a bit, so I usually half the recipe, and even then, I have some left over to freeze for another night.

Serves 12-14 for about $0.54/serving

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. ground beef – ($2.98)

3 cans tomato sauce – ($2.04)

1 can diced tomatoes – ($0.68)

1 can tomato paste – ($0.33)

1 can olives, sliced – ($0.98)

Salt, pepper, oregano, basil, onion powder and garlic, to liking

 Brown beef, and throw all ingredients in the crock pot…simmer on low for 3 hours.
