Monogrammed Button Canvas

IMG_7598

I am constantly on the lookout for cute and easy decorations that I can make for my house.  Sure I would love to just walk into Pottery Barn or Pier 1 and buy all my home décor, but that is not really in the budget with the recent purchase of our new home.  I also enjoy making things, so when I saw lots of different ideas for monogrammed canvases, I kind of combined some things I had seen, and came up with this.  A monogrammed button canvas.  I used the paint colors from our kitchen and living room, and decided to hang it in the hallway between the two rooms.  I think it turned out pretty well, and for a good price!  The nice thing about this project is that it is personalized, as well as you can make it to suit your style, color scheme, etc.  What are you going to come up with for your home??

I made mine for about $10.

MATERIALS:

Canvas – ($4.50 at Hobby Lobby)

Buttons – ($4.99 at Joanns)

Paint

Paint brushes

Painters tape

Hot glue gun

DIRECTIONS:

Tape off your canvas in whatever way you would like.  I had seen some cool chevron patterned designs, but went the easy route, and just did horizontal stripes.

Paint your first color.  Let dry for an hour or so.

Peel off tape.

Paint your next color, or tape off again.  I just did it by hand with the gray.  The lines aren’t perfect, but I kind of liked that.

Arrange your buttons, and start gluing!

Now you have your personalized button canvas.  Easy, right?
