Oreo Truffle Balls

Oreotruffles

Every year for Christmas I try and make some yummy goodies to give to our friends and family.  This year I had the flu before Christmas, and then we were out of town for Christmas, so we just delivered our Christmas goodies.  I went for a quick and easy truffle ball.  In years past I have made much more labor intensive truffles, that are worth all the time and effort, but when I came across these bad boys a couple of years ago, I made a switch.  This is not the original recipe I used, but it is the same, and works well.  Super yummy, so easy, and everyone will ask you for the recipe!  With just 3 ingredients, and a few steps, you can make lots of different flavors and combinations.  This year I did Chocolate, Chocolate Mint and Peanut Butter.  Yum!!

Makes about 38-40 truffles per batch, depending on how large you make them, for about $7.25.

INGREDIENTS:

1 16 oz pkg of Nutter Butter cookies or Oreo cookies – $2.38

1 8 oz. package of cream cheese – $0.98

Chocolate to melt and coat truffles – $3.96

DIRECTIONS:

Bring cream cheese to room temperature.  Use your food processor to grind the cookies to crumbs.

Mix the two ingredients in a mixer until blended.

Roll into balls with a small ice cream scoop, or making them smaller if you want…personal preference, I went for simplicity.   Refrigerate them until cold, or even place in the freezer for a few minutes so they firm up a bit.

Melt your chocolate, and roll each ball in to coat.

ENJOY!! … or share with your loved ones.

Note: Be sure to refrigerate if you don’t eat them all or give them all away!
