DIY: How to Remove Hair Dye from Porcelain!

For some reason, I tend to dye my hair in hotel rooms. Don’t ask me why. I just do. On a recent trip to Reno, a true to form, me did just that. I knew I was going to dye my hair, so I brought my own towel in an effort to prevent staining anything that didn’t belong to me (YAY for thinking ahead!). Well, when I got done, I realized that I had stained their tub. FANTASTIC! I could almost hear my better half commenting on the extra cleaning charges we’d incur because I decided to dye my hair there. So (while still hearing his voice in my head), I jumped in the car and drove myself to the Dollar Tree to pick up my solution to the problem. And here’s where the lesson begins:

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • A Hair Dye Stain
  • Effervescent Denture Cleaner (Dollar Tree version is perfect)
  • Plate
  • Water
  • Wash towel or rag

Step 1: Freak out over having stained your porcelain with dye.

Step 2: Open effervescent denture cleaner and place into a plate or bowl.

Step 6: Use a warm (almost hot) washcloth or rag to wipe down the stained area.

*If for some reason you still have a stain, simply repeat the process until it disappears.

Thanks for reading! I hope this helps you out if you ever find yourself in a stained porcelain bind!
