Sweet & Savory Baked Strawberry & Cream Cheese Straws! YUM!

I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and if you know anything about San Antonio, you know that our annual Fiesta just rounded up last night. My favorite part of Fiesta is all the food and thanks to all the Facebook pictures my friends put up, I found myself REALLY missing it. So, I decided to make myself something that you could find being sold at The Poteet Strawberry Festival; Sweet and Savory Strawberry Cream Cheese Straws! Of course, they’d be fried at the festival though. 😉

If you’re looking for an absolutely yummy treat that’s easy to make, you’re going to love this DIY.


All you need are a few basic ingredients:

  • Refrigerated Pie Dough
  • Strawberries
  • Cream Cheese
  • Egg
  • Sugar

You can use flour if you’d like to protect your work space. However, I took the easy route and used parchment paper.

Start by preheating your oven to 400*.

Now, roll out your refrigerated pie dough and cut off the sides to give your dough straight edges. Next, cut your dough into two inch slices (lengthwise).


Take one of your slices of pie dough and fold it to make a crease (lengthwise again).


Once you’ve made your crease, unfold it and coat the inside of the dough with a beaten egg.


Now, cut your strawberries into small pieces and add it to a bowl. Spoon your cream cheese into the same bowl, add a sprinkle of sugar, and mix well.


Take your mixture and add a thin line of it to the center of your dough strip.


Now, fold your dough over (where you creased it) and pinch the ends closed. Coat the top with another layer of beaten egg and sprinkle the tops with sugar.


Now, lift the parchment paper (with your straws still on it) and place it on a baking sheet.

Place into the oven for 10-15 minutes; until the pie dough has turned brown.

Remove them from the oven, let cool, and enjoy!
